I still don't get why you wanna buy two copies of the creature editor, It'll be out in Sept. and the demo will get you by until then. I see people like (mrs house wife) buying it and making stuff for upload only. Are you Mrs. Housewife?

Hello! SPOREcreatures gala it started. In order to advertise the opinion poll on sites, we created advertising banners which you can download from SPORE Poland. In order to increase the amount of voices in our competition, we are recommending putting the advertising banner in the visible place ;).

Chimera, I think what he means is that there's no point in buying something you'll get with the full game, anyway. And I can't help but agree; If you really can't wait a couple of months for the full game, the money would be better spent topping up your Ritalin script.
Although if the editor was free with a pre-order, or at least counted towards credit for the full game it might be worthwhile. This is just EA opening itself to new horizons of micro-transactions. Fuck you, EA. Fuck you.
Roland - May 1st, 2008 - 21:21
Thank you Cunningbeef, thats just what I was saying. For some reason Chimera2008 was under the idea I only knew about the 100% demo, looks like Chimera2008 was WRONG!

We get some ridiculous arguments around here, haha.
As I've said before, how is EA ripping people off by charging for a tool they spent countless hours creating. Believe it or not, many people only want the game to create creatures, so they may not even buy the game once it comes out if they get their hands on the editor. EA can't let those consumers have their game for free, can they?
Besides, I'd like to believe that money made from the editor is only going to head back to Maxis and back into making Spore the best it can be, or even towards later expansions. I mean, it's going to be a franchise, not a one time rip-off.
Heather - May 2nd, 2008 - 05:54
Roland: I'm Ms Sims 2 Creator and I can't wait to create for Spore too ;)
Cody: I don't think EA is ripping anyone off by charging for the editor, but I don't see why they should charge people in Europe more than people in the US. They should just convert, and do it in Euros for, say €6.49 or €6.99. Charging €9.99 means people in the EU (and I assume therefore the UK where I live, too) will be paying over the odds.
Roland - May 2nd, 2008 - 19:42
Heather, It cost money to ship stuff all over the world. Now I have no idea where these games get put together but I do know it costs more to send something over seas.
However I must say that sometimes the price hike it a lot more then a simple shipping fee.
- May 3rd, 2008 - 09:50
i was talking about demo versions -_-,one demo version dont need to pay{thats an 25% creature parts demo}another version is an retail version. you mean you dont need to pay both versions retail version and full version spore you mean?
- May 3rd, 2008 - 09:51
just tell if im wrong again or an answer.
Heather - May 3rd, 2008 - 17:52
Roland: It's more than just the shipping costs by a long shot. €9.99 is a little over $15. If that were simply the shipping costs then EA would be paying a little over the odds for their shipping. I wouldn't even pay as much as $5 for shipping to the UK on a lot of American games websites, and that's for an individual item, not a bulk shipping!
At-At Controller - May 4th, 2008 - 06:26
im more interested in which 25% of the parts we get. knowing EA im a little worried about that
- May 4th, 2008 - 12:40
or better:you wait until september, right At-At Controller? another comment:i know that i like to try the demo too, anyway anyone...is retail version to pay on internet or store? i hope store.
im gay? - May 4th, 2008 - 16:03
Roland - May 4th, 2008 - 18:30
At-At Controller, its a demo.
Heather - May 6th, 2008 - 19:23
Haha, am I seriously the only person who found what At-At Controller said funny? I assume it was a joke... "Which 25%"...?

Maxis History
The company we have all grown to love was founded in 1987 by designers Will Wright and Jeff Braun to launch their game, Simcity. The game didn't show much interest among the community because of it's lack of "winning and losing" concept; which is what, then, defined a video game. After the amazing success of the game, the young company went on to create several other games such as RoboSport and the ever popular 3D pinball game for the Windows Operating System. With Simcity's success Maxis attempted other various 'Sim' games such as: SimAnt, SimFarm, SimEarth (a possible inspiration for Spore) and SimLife. Maxis then looked to other game genres creating The Crystal Skull and SimCopter, both flops, then leading to a decline in what Maxis has to offer. Electronic Arts acquired the company in 1997, and it seems to be ridding of the name. With the release of the Sims 2: Pets, the Maxis logo was omitted entirely from the game. But we see it's return at the bottom of the Official Spore Website. The teaser trailer for Spore even features a "Brought to you by the makers of The Sims 2.." So perhaps EA wants to keep the popular name. In 2000, Maxis released The Sims, despite the ridicules and almost certainty of failure by the EA officials. The game went on to become the best selling PC game of all time. And with the release of the extremely popular The Sims 2 in 2004, and Spore to be seen released September of 2008, the company has a very bright future.
