Creature Editor Next Month
 This just in a few hours ago, the Spore creature editor will be available to Spore fans in late June! Patrick Beuchner, the marketing director at Maxis, stated this about the editor: A trial version of the Spore Creature creator will be available for free through a variety of sources including as a download from Spore.com and in The SimCity Box. There will also be a version of the Creature Creator available at retail. The free Creature Creator has about 25-percent of the creature making parts from Spore. The retail version will have 100-percent. It's up to the players to choose which version they want, but they'll all be available at approximately the same timeThe article at IGN.com has some insides on what the editor will consist of, including: A complete creature editor (only creatures at this point, folks), a test ground with several different backdrops, and the creator can take in-game shots and movies of their creature in the testing grounds. Your creatures will be able to enter the official Sporepedia at Spore.com. The functions in the retail version of the editor will be identical to that of the editor in the game, and your creatures will be able to be played in the game when it ships September 7 in North America.

I don't see why so many people on ign and elsewhere are complaining so much about paying for a full edition of the creature editor. A lot of people are only going to buy the game to create creatures, so giving it away free means no money for EA from those consumers.
Besides, 10 to 20 bucks for one of the most powerful and user-friendly creation programs ever? Sign me up.

I have to agree.
They obviously realise what a powerful and fun tool it is and will charge for it accordingly.
Hopefuly it will be quite cheap!

I think I'll get the download. I dont want to ruin all the unlockable parts. Ill wait for the 100% of the parts, for when I unlock them in the game. Total Sweetntess! I wonder if you can save the demo creatures and then load them when you get the actual game...giggity giggity!

I'm not going to buy the demo if it is over £10. I don't think it would be worth it. I'll just get the free version and wait until september 5th.

I remember Will said that you can "export" creatures to a Spore card file, and share with friends and whatnot. But he was talking about the full version... if this free editor has it too, then we can "export" any creation to a file, then just "import" it into the full Spore when it arrives!

OHHH MAN!! Will, your breaking my balls man. We've been waiting forever! And the whole "buy the full editor" is SUCH a bad idea.
Like the hackers arn't going to hack it the day it comes out, besides i thought a point of the game was to explore, kinda, for new parts, so wtf?

You have to pay for the full demo because it has everything, and all the stay at home soccer mums and people that just want to make creatures to upload will be getting a free game. Think about it. It won't get hacked because it'll come with a Spore user account so people know whos made what. Just wait for the full game, I've been waiting like 6 years now. Whats a few more months?
