Creature Editor: Officially Announced
EA has officially named the announcement about the Spore Creature Editor, and will be 9.99 (USD and EURO). Read the entrance of the article below, or head on over to the entire article by clicking here.
Redwood City, CA - April 25, 2008 – Get a jump-start on creating your own universe in Spore™, the highly anticipated game from the creators of The Sims™. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Maxis today announced that a free downloadable demo, and complete retail version* of the Spore Creature Creator will be available starting June 17, 2008. The Spore Creature Creator gives Spore fans, and those who are creatively curious, the first hands-on opportunity to design their own species and share it with their friends. All creatures designed with the Spore Creature Creator can be imported into the full retail version of the Spore for PC and Mac when it launches on September 5, 2008 in Europe and September 7, 2008 in North America.-From Spore.com

Ummm...there's a free version too...it has 25% of the parts of the $10 version, but there WILL be a free one. Check www.xspore.com

I still don't get why you wanna buy two copies of the creature editor, It'll be out in Sept. and the demo will get you by until then. I see people like (mrs house wife) buying it and making stuff for upload only. Are you Mrs. Housewife?

Wrong:one version have you to pay for retail version{100% creature editor},another version is an download version may an 25% creature editor.

Chimera, I think what he means is that there's no point in buying something you'll get with the full game, anyway. And I can't help but agree; If you really can't wait a couple of months for the full game, the money would be better spent topping up your Ritalin script.
Although if the editor was free with a pre-order, or at least counted towards credit for the full game it might be worthwhile. This is just EA opening itself to new horizons of micro-transactions. Fuck you, EA. Fuck you.

We get some ridiculous arguments around here, haha.
As I've said before, how is EA ripping people off by charging for a tool they spent countless hours creating. Believe it or not, many people only want the game to create creatures, so they may not even buy the game once it comes out if they get their hands on the editor. EA can't let those consumers have their game for free, can they?
Besides, I'd like to believe that money made from the editor is only going to head back to Maxis and back into making Spore the best it can be, or even towards later expansions. I mean, it's going to be a franchise, not a one time rip-off.

Roland: I'm Ms Sims 2 Creator and I can't wait to create for Spore too ;)
Cody: I don't think EA is ripping anyone off by charging for the editor, but I don't see why they should charge people in Europe more than people in the US. They should just convert, and do it in Euros for, say 6.49 or 6.99. Charging 9.99 means people in the EU (and I assume therefore the UK where I live, too) will be paying over the odds.

Heather, It cost money to ship stuff all over the world. Now I have no idea where these games get put together but I do know it costs more to send something over seas.
However I must say that sometimes the price hike it a lot more then a simple shipping fee.

Roland: It's more than just the shipping costs by a long shot. 9.99 is a little over $15. If that were simply the shipping costs then EA would be paying a little over the odds for their shipping. I wouldn't even pay as much as $5 for shipping to the UK on a lot of American games websites, and that's for an individual item, not a bulk shipping!
