Spore Community Day!

August 22, a group of Spore webmasters and staff was invited to the EA Maxis Emeryville Studio in the San Francisco Bay, in California. It was an amazing experience full of nothing but Spore talk. It was great to finally put faces to those I have known online, many of them for years. Aside from trip details, I want to get right down to the game itself. After a tour of the studio we landed in the ‘garage’ with Spore Producer, Caryl Shaw. Caryl showed us a walkthrough of the game, primarily the space phase, where we could ask questions along the way. Here are some key points I scribbled down..

Hone your Creature Creating Skills

prima_games_creature_creator_spore_guide.jpg Prima Games is offering a free PDF download of their Creature Creator guide. It contains a whopping 27 pages crammed full with more tips and information than you can shake a stick at. You can download the guide at Prima Games.

From the guide: Sprint is useful for both Social- and Attack-based creatures. The easiest way to maximize your Sprint ability is to choose one of the two foot types that give you the maximum bonus.

Bites are available only from Mouth parts, so to maximize, choose one of the four +5 mouths or think about a creature with multiple heads (if you want a high Sing skill too). Remember that mouhts can be hands, and arms can function as necks for two-or three-headed creatures.

Creature Creator: Sharing Your Creatures

In this tutorial you will learn how to successfully add your creature from the official Sporepedia to your game.

1. Find the creature you want from the Sporepedia.

2. Click Download and save the image that pops up to your dektop while running the Spore Creature Creator (The Creature Creator will have an option for non full screen, using the editor as a window will make things smoother and much easier)

3. Take the creature from your desktop (odds are its a bunch of number '0000056823' for example)

4. Drage the .PNG file on your desktop to where the Spore Creature Creator is located on the taskbar (if you let go now, you might receive an error stating the operation cannot be performed) The youdon't let go of the creature wait until the Spore Creature Creator Window Opens again in 'Create a Creature Mode' then continue to drag the file, for best results, let go on the beginning blob.

If the above option fails to work for you, go all out using files as done below:

1. Go to the Sporepedia and select the creature of your choice. For this tutorial I have selected to download the creature, Fracktail.

2. When you have the creature pulled up an information screen will now appear giving tags, information about the creature and a link that says download. Click the link.

3. Now you will be taken to a page that shows a small image of the creature as a .PNG file. Right click as Save the File "Save Image As.."

4. Now go to C://... My Documents/My Spore Creations/Creatures and add the .PNG there. Now restart the Creature Editor and voila! enjoy!

There are more stars than all of the grains of sand on earth.

You can see stars from the bottom of a well even in day light.

Stars with really strong gravity cause themselves to become smaller and smaller and eventually turn into black holes.
